IDEX Corporation Sends Hurst ´Jaws of Life´ Tools to New York To Aid Rescue Efforts
NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- IDEX Corporation (NYSE: IEX) today announced it is aiding in the search for victims of the World Trade Center collapse by sending Hurst Jaws of Life(C) rescue tools, manufactured by its Hale Products, Inc. subsidiary, to New York City.
On Wednesday, a convoy of two double tractor trailers containing 55 skids
of Hurst Jaws of Life rescue tools and two Hurst training vehicles were
escorted by Pennsylvania then New Jersey state police on their way to New York
City. Once there, New York State police escorted the vehicles to a staging
area at Randall's Island. Firematic, the local Hurst distributor, has set up
a station to distribute the tools to firefighting and rescue personnel. Hurst
Jaws of Life is the standard for rescue tools in New York City.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of life in this incident -- but in
particular the firefighting and rescue personnel, some of whom have been
friends for years," said Don Heffner, Hale's Northeast regional manager, who
is on-site helping Firematic with tool distribution. "This is an unthinkable

what we can to help."
