Grundfos Opens Factory in India
After eight years of positive development in the Indian market, the Grundfos Group now expands its Indian sales company to include production facilities, too. The company, which has approx. 80 employees, today inaugurates new buildings covering a total of 5,000 m2 in the Indian city of Chennai.
The company thus gives the starting signal for production in India.
With a DKK 20m investment it is our goal to provide even better service to the Indian market, where our primary focus will be on the industrial product range, including product types like Hydro Boosters for pressure boosting and CR pumps, NB and NK pumps for industrial purposes.
Group Chairman Niels Due Jensen says about the inauguration:
“It has been said that anything is possible in India – especially following the political reforms, which were introduced in the 90s. At Grundfos, we are optimistic about future pump sales in India, particularly now that we have established our own production facilities in the country.”
Local production will enable Grundfos to deliver its pump solutions quickly and with a high degree of adaptation to local conditions.
Grundfos India is responsible for sales to both India, the Maldive Islands and Bangladesh. The strength of this local sales and service structure showed for instance in connection with the Tsunami in December last year, when Grundfos was able to move quickly to help the affected areas.
Grundfos in India since 1997
Grundfos first set up in India in 1997, and since then the company has experienced a most positive development. The Indian economy provides great scope for growth, and Grundfos expects its local production facilities to enhance the Group’s image in the Indian market.
With a population of more than one billion people, India holds great potential. Grundfos offers solutions that can improve living conditions for large parts of the population, who will experience quality and stability in water supply and drainage, energy-efficient pump solutions for the growing industry and environment-friendly solutions for heat supply and air conditioning.
The special climatic and topographic conditions of India and its neighbouring countries represent great challenges, and Grundfos is looking forward to confronting these challenges and delivering high-quality products that will benefit the population of the entire area.
