Grundfos acquires new product range

05.11.2002

From 1 November, Grundfos takes over the rights to part of Danish pump manufacturer Svanehøj's product range – large in-line pumps, used especially in the district heating sector but also used for air-conditioning. With this acquisition, Grundfos will be able to produce pumps with capacities of up to 4,000 cubic metres per hour equipped with motors of up to 600 kW.

According to Group Senior Vice President Søren Ø. Sørensen, the new product line makes Grundfos' product range the widest any pump manufacturer has to offer the district heating sector.

"This makes Grundfos highly attractive as total supplier of pumps to that business area. Being the world's leading supplier of in-line pumps gives us a substantial growth potential – especially in Eastern Europe and Russia." says Mr Sørensen.

The large in-line pumps have been developed on the basis of Svanehøj's many years of experience working with power planted heating. Grundfos will, however, also offer them to costumers working with commercial buildings, residential buildings and hotels. Until now, the production of these products has taken place in Svanehøj's factory in Denmark. In future they will be produced in one of the Grundfos Group's factories in Hungary.

Svanehøj A/S, which produces pumps for the maritime industry and is part of the Hamworthy KSE Group Ltd., continues all its other activities.
