German Pump Technology for Sewage Plants in Algeria
Construction of four new sewage plants is currently underway in Algeria and pumps from Allweiler AG are playing key roles. Allweiler worked with the plant builder to deliver 48 progressing cavity pumps and macerators.
Technological benefits of Allweiler pumps and the company s on-site presence were two big reasons why Allweiler was awarded the contract.
When completed, German pump technology from Allweiler AG will help treat wastewater in the four new Algerian sewage plants. This includes a large plant in Oran, capital of the Algerian province of the same name and the second-largest city in the country with 1.5-million residents. Working closely with the Austrian plant builder VA Tech Wabag, Allweiler planned and configured this major project in addition to three other plants.
These projects required a total of 48 progressing cavity pumps and macerators that are adapted and utilized according to the prevailing requirements. Nine pumps of the AEB series and twenty-five Tecflow pumps are used in the preliminary stages of the treatment process to move untreated wastewater. In the final stage of wastewater treatment, four AE-RG pumps transport drained sludges that may have a dry substance content as high as 45%. Additionally, four ANP-series pumps are used to meter process-optimization polymers. Two of the AE-RG pumps are unique in that they are four-stage units designed for a very high maximum differential pressure of 15 bar.
Allweiler s Austrian and French sales partners remained engaged with the plant builder throughout the entire project – starting with the proposal and continuing with dimensioning, advisory services, delivery, and installation. Once again, Allweiler s international presence has proven its value. The Austrian plant builder and the Algerian operator were able to rely on support from Allweiler AG s on-site advisors and technicians during every phase of the project.
