From 2019: IFAT with Three Events in China

06.12.2018

Messe München expands its network of environmental technology shows in China: starting next year, it will be represented with a third IFAT event in the Middle Kingdom. As solution platform for the western region of China, IE expo Chengdu will be held for the first time from June 27 to 29, 2019 at the Western China International Expo City in the 15-million city of Chengdu.

For Stefan Rummel, Managing Director of Messe München the dynamic nature of the Chinese environmental market virtually calls for an expansion of the IFAT network: “China is absolutely determined to make its economic development more sustainable and to invest in environmental engineering. This is demonstrated by the rapid growth of our Chinese IFAT events and by China’s steadily increasing participation in IFAT in Munich.”

Chengdu: gateway to western China

The new IE expo Chengdu will have a regional format. Its portfolio as well as the topics of the supporting conference will be geared toward the needs of the western provinces. Being the gateway to the west of the People’s Republic, the location of Chengdu is key—in geographic, economic and political terms. Jiang Gang, Managing Director of Messe Muenchen Zhongmao: “Chengdu is the most relevant transport hub, it is the region’s economic center together with Chongqing, it is part of the prospering economic belt along the Yangtze River and it enjoys strong political support due to its strategic importance for the expansion of the new Silk Road.”

Accordingly, the annual IE expo Chengdu is extremely well received in the region already now: the Chengdu Municipal People’s Government, the Chengdu Environmental Protection Bureau and the Chengdu Expo Bureau will appear as partner of the premiere in June.

Strong trade fair trio in China

The world’s leading trade show IFAT is already present with two events in China: with 1,762 exhibitors and 66,580 visitors, the annual IE expo China in Shanghai is the leading exhibition of the entire Asian industry. For the next edition, from May 3 to 5, 2019, the organizers again scale up the exhibition space by two halls to a total of 13 halls. IE expo Guangzhou is the South China counterpart to IE expo Chengdu and showcases solutions tailored to southern China. In the last September, it united 505 exhibitors and 26,493 visitors under one roof. Stefan Rummel is certain already: “In 2019, we will witness a strong trade fair trio in China.”
