Flowserve Receives Multi-Million Dollar Valve Order From Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power

21.07.2011

Flowserve Corporation announced it has received a multi-million dollar order from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. Ltd (KHNP).

The order, which was booked in the first quarter of 2011, includes main steam isolation valves (MSIVs) and main feedwater isolation valves (MFIVs) intended to be used at the KHNP Shin-Ulchin 1 and 2 nuclear power plant pressurized water reactors. The Shin-Ulchin 1 and 2 reactors are currently under construction and scheduled for commercial operation in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

Flowserve MSIVs and MFIVs are designed to prevent the loss of fluid from main steam and feed water lines. These large gate valves, which have fast-acting stored energy actuators, are specifically designed to close within 3-5 seconds.

"This order comes as a direct result of our 20-year relationship with KHNP, supported by our long history of providing solutions to the nuclear power industry," said Tom Pajonas, president, Flowserve Flow Control Division. "We are proud to play such an important role in the production of clean, emissions-free energy in South Korea and around the world. Flowserve expertise and global presence allow us to meet our customers needs in the critical nuclear power industry. Our continued dedication to the manufacture and long-term service of these valves are important aspects of our strategy."
