Flowserve Celebrates Grand Opening of New Pump Manufacturing Facility in Brazil

Flowserve Corporation announced the grand opening of its state-of-the-art pump manufacturing plant in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Located in the Campo de Grande Industrial Area, the new facility enhances the company s presence, manufacturing capabilities and support of customers throughout Latin America.

The 15,000 square meter plant sits on more than 44,000 square meters of total land, allowing for easy expansion to meet future needs. The plant will manufacture a wide range of Flowserve pumps, as well as offer 6-megawatt test stand capacity and full parts, service and training capabilities.

"We are proud of this new facility and believe it sends a positive message to the marketplace and our customers that Flowserve is committed to Brazil and the entire Latin America region," said Mark Blinn, president and CEO. "When fully operational, the plant will expand our ability to continue providing the outstanding, localized service that our customers demand."

More than 350 employees are planned to occupy the facility when the transition from the existing Rio de Janeiro facility is complete later this year. The existing plant was opened in 1941.

"Localization of our products and services is a key component of our Flowserve strategy," said Tom Pajonas, chief operating officer. "This plant demonstrates our continuing drive to serve our customers in the best way possible."

Flowserve senior executives as well as local government officials and Flowserve customers were on hand for the inauguration celebration which included the ceremonial ribbon-cutting and facility tours.

"We are excited to have been able to design this facility with the latest technological innovations for our manufacturing processes in mind," said Fabian Mamia, president, Latin America Operations. "Not only are we able to meet the needs of our customers today, but the facility helps position us for continued growth and future opportunities."
