24.02.2005

Earth Tech Inc., a business unit of Tyco International Ltd., and a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, has received three 2005 "Best in State" Engineering Excellence Awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Wisconsin.

The awards recognize engineering achievements that represent the highest degree of technical innovation, client satisfaction, and contribution to the engineering industry. Earth Tech project teams in Wisconsin were recognized for their accomplishments in the water resources, transportation and environmental categories. The company was honored for the following projects:

  • For the city of Mequon, Earth Tech implemented an innovative wetland restoration and stormwater management project that reduced localized flooding; increased biodiversity along Trinity Creek; and created recreational walking trails that include informational signage to enhance public access and understanding of the project.
  • In Racine, Earth Tech designed and managed the rehabilitation of Downtown Main Street. Store front to store front construction was completed replacing all utilities while maintaining access to all merchants. The work included the addition of decorative lighting on Main Street and in an adjacent park, street benches and pedestrian improvements, such as curbs that extend out further into the street at crosswalks. The project was designed to increase activity in the commercial area through the addition of state-of-the art technology while maintaining its historical character.
  • For DaimlerChrysler's Dayton Thermal Products facility in Dayton, Ohio, Earth Tech designed, built and operated a groundwater remediation system that combines a traditional groundwater "pump and treat" method with new groundwater in-situ reductive dechlorination remediation technology.

"Earth Tech strives to be a leader in each of the market sectors we serve," said Jim Kunz, regional manager for Earth Tech's Midwest District. "These awards from ACEC Wisconsin recognize the valuable contributions our employees are making to help our clients in the municipal and industrial areas achieve their objectives."
