Copes-Vulcan Severe Duty Valves from Celeros Flow Technology for Extreme Operating and Environmental Conditions

25.02.2022
Challenging industrial environments need high quality, high reliability flow control equipment that can withstand extremes of temperature, noise and vibration. The Copes-Vulcan SD-Severe Duty valve from Celeros Flow Technology meets these criteria.

Specifically designed to withstand the most severe operational conditions, SD-Severe Duty control valves are particularly suited for applications such as pump recirculation, feedwater control and feedwater start-up, flashing or cavitating service and critical pressure drop gas and steam service. They are also widely used for nuclear ‘N’ stamp and seismic applications.

The SD-Severe Duty valve is available in sizes 0.75-20" (20-500mm) and ASME pressure classes 150 - 4500 as standard. Larger sizes are available on request. It features a straight through globe and angle style body design with single web internal construction.

The SD-Severe Duty valve is a worthy successor to the Copes-Vulcan D-100 line, which it replaces. It bears a strong visual resemblance to its predecessor, but features a number of technical improvements to help specifiers and operators meet increasingly stringent regulations and achieve highly reliable flow control in the most demanding situations.

The valve body is designed with high structural integrity, large interior flow passageways and a large capacity bowl to accommodate an extensive variety of trim designs while allowing maximum recovery within the valve. Of cast construction, SD-Severe Duty valves can be specified in any standard castable material to match specification. Depending upon size and pressure class, ends are available as threaded, flanged or welded.

An extensive array of standard and high performance trim options are available to meet the most severe duty and critical service requirements, including Copes-Vulcan specialty trims such as Raven, Hush, Soft-Seated Hush, Tandem and GAD. All trims are of quick change design to facilitate ease of maintenance and most are fully interchangeable between like sizes to ensure maximum flexibility and reduced inventory requirements. A complete range of extremely rugged 1000 series pneumatic diaphragm actuators will meet practically any severe duty service including both nuclear and seismic requirements.

SD-Severe Duty control valves are designed in accordance with ANSI B16.1, B16.5, B16.11, B16.25, B16.34.
