Weir Entropie has been awarded a contract worth US$ 8.9 million in China for the supply of a desalination plant.

The customer is TEDA, a semi private company in charge of the development of the infrastructure and supply of utilities in the Tian Jin economic zone 150 kms from Beijing.

The plant is a multiple effect distillation type (MED) and will produce 10000 m3/day of pure water to be used by industrial companies based in the TEDA area.

The project involves the engineering and manufacturing of the desalination unit within a period of 10 months and the supervision of its erection and start-up within four months. The plant will most probably be manufactured in China

This contract comes as a reward of a year long team work. It is the second contract awarded for an MED-type desalination plant in the fast growing new China and we believe it will open up a strong new market for Techna.
