Cat Pumps Turns Up The Pressure

03.03.2009

In a response to demands from its many customers worldwide for a triplex positive displacement pump capable of meeting operating pressures of up to 10,000 psi, Cat Pumps has released details of a new model that addresses these requirements.

The new 10,000 psi (690 bar) Model 1810 Plunger Pump delivers an exceptionally smooth, low pulsation flow of 11.4 l/min and due to its low unswept volume (minimal un-evacuated liquid remains in the pumping chamber) it exhibits excellent volumetric efficiency. Resistance to corrosion and wear is ensured by block-style stainless-steel manifolds and high-density polished solid ceramic plungers, giving the 1810 extended seal and operating life. And with a die-cast aluminium crankcase, the pump combines high strength with minimum weight.

Applications which Cat Pumps has identified for the Model 1810 include:

  • Hydrostatic testing
  • Instrument line flushing
  • Surface preparation
  • Tube cleaning
  • Tank & vessel cleaning
  • Marine barnacle and paint removal
  • Sewer drain blasting
  • Heavy equipment cleaning

Commenting on the new pump, Brian Hubbard, General Manager Cat Pumps (UK) Limited said: “This new pump has the highest pressure rating in our product range so far. It extends the operation of our triplex positive displacement pump family into applications requiring a powerful but compact high pressure unit. Its lightweight, just 27.3kg, means that it is suitable for portable applications as well as stationary installation, and in keeping with all our pumps, the wet end is easily serviced without the need to disturb the crankcase.”

The new 1810 Plunger Pump advances Cat Pumps’ commitment to offering a range of pumps to industry that reduces unit size in relation to the pressure output whilst maintaining an envied reputation for reliability and customer support.
