Biral Introduces the Energy Label

28.10.2005

Circulator pumps are responsible for up to 15% of the electricity consumption of an average European household .The average European household could reduce total electricity consumption by up to 10% by purchasing more high energy-efficient pumps.

Biral Introduces the Energy Label

In cooperation with other leading pump manufacturers, Biral has committed to a unitary labelling of the energy consumption. Together with EUROPUMP – the European Association of Pump Manufacturers - the already well know EU-Energy Label has been introduced.

The immediate purpose of this label is to create transparency and help consumers and installers to find the most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly circulators.

The long term aims are to raise standards for the whole circulator market to eventually stimulate research of more innovative products.

The label is simply to use and understand. The class is based on an energy efficiency index from A to G; the lower the index letter (A is best), the more energy-efficient the circulator. Circulators labelled class ‚A’ can save 50% to 70% energy compared to those labelled class ‚D’.

Circulator pumps from Biral are labelled starting from October 2005 with the correspondent energy class.

Also the technical requirements for a class ‚A’ pump are high, Biral can supply a complete range of this energy-efficient pumps. This has been reached due to the utilization of the new motor generation with permanent magnet.

Variable speed pumps are classified ‚B’ or ‚C’ - pumps with two speeds are labelled class ‚C’ or ‚D’.

Biral is the inventor of the first high efficient circulator pump MC 10 and won in the year 200 the Wuppertaler Energy and Environment Award as well as the Swiss eta+ Award. Since then, the range of the permanent magnet-motor pumps has been enlarged up to DN 65. All pumps of the Mini-Energy range fulfil the demanding request of the class ‚A’.

The participation in this cooperation is the next step in the commitment for the environment.
