The new BIOSTAT® B plus is destined to become the new bench top standard in research fermentors and bioreactors, worldwide. Application driven preconfigured packages for microbial and cell culture are delivered being ready to use right "out of the box".

The completely equipped packages have an excellent value for money; the logical choice for users in teaching, research and industry.

New, from its main circuit board to its color touch screen, housed in an all new, clean and stylish stainless steel cabinet. The compact BIOSTAT® B plus is available with autoclavable culture vessels with 1L to 10L working volume. The integrated system concept enclose in a stainless steel housing the control-, thermostat-, aeration system, a stirrer control unit as well as up to four peristaltic pumps.

Basic unit

The control system integrates all necessary actuator outputs, as well as amplifiers for temperature,pH,pO2, foam and level. Furthermore, there is even space for two additional amplifiers, such as for redox-and turbidity, additionally external amplifiers can be connected and visualized.

Gassing and pumps

The maintenance-free, high torque servomotor assembly offers a wide speed range, from 10 to 2000 rpm. This versatile agitation system handles both shear sensitive cell cultures and high oxygen transfer rates required by high cell density fermentations. Two application driven gassing-/pump systems are available. For microbial applications, a O2-Enrichment system for high oxygen transfer rates is available with either a pulsed solenoid valve or mass flow controller. Addition of acid, base and antifoam is performed by three, integral On/Off pumps. A fourth pump may be installed as either On/Off or variable speed. For cell culture, a gas mixing system for automatic addition of Air, O2,N2 and CO2 is integrated. Beside routing the mixed gasses to the sparger, air is routed to overlay. The addition of base, antifoam or a feed is performed by two built-in pumps. Two additional pumps may be installed as either On/Off or variable speed, e.g., for perfusion mode.

Thermostat system

Depending on the system configuration, up to two external variable speed pumps may be connected. The integral thermostat uses a powerful electric heater and a pulsed solenoid valve for cooling water ensures precise temperature control, with rapid heating and cooling rates. All connections to the culture vessel are quick couplings for easy handling.

Culture vessel

UniVesselTM culture vessel with 1L, 2L, 5L or 10L working volume are available. And, 2L or 5L Airlift culture vessel are available as well. Vertical lifting handles and a removable bottle support rack make the vessel lighter and easier to handle before and after sterilization; additionally minimizing the necessary autoclave space. The polished stainless steel head plate maintains the highest of sanitary conditions.
