Baker Hughes Appoints Martin S. Craighead Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Baker Hughes Incorporated announced that Martin S. Craighead, 49, has been appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and is expected to assume his new duties on April 30, 2009.
In this position, he will report to Chad C. Deaton, President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Baker Hughes. Baker Hughes also announced that David H. Barr, 59, will retire from the company on April 30, 2009.
"Martin brings over 27 years of experience to the COO position. He has demonstrated his leadership skills at Baker Atlas, INTEQ, and most recently as President of our Drilling and Evaluation Group. Martin is a strong leader and motivator and brings experience and a record of achievement in both international and North America operations to the position," said Chad Deaton, President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Baker Hughes.
"David has had a distinguished career spanning 36 years in the industry with most of it at Baker Hughes. He joined Hughes Tool Company in 1972 and has served the company in a variety of roles spanning manufacturing, operations, engineering, and product management. He served as the original architect and executive manager of Project Renaissance, President of Baker Atlas, and Group President Drilling and Evaluation in addition to his current position as Group President Completion and Production. We wish David well on the accomplishment of this milestone and on his upcoming retirement."
Biography
Martin S. Craighead will become Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer on April 30, 2009. Mr. Craighead was named Group President, Drilling and Evaluation in March 2007. He served as the President of INTEQ from August 2005 through March 2007 and President of Baker Atlas from February 2005 through August 2005. Mr. Craighead joined the company in 1986 and has served Western Atlas and Baker Atlas in a number of operational positions, including assignments in Canada, Latin America, and Asia; as well as Vice President of Worldwide Operations for Baker Atlas from 2003 to 2005. Before he joined Baker Hughes, he was employed as a Research Engineer at BJ Services. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University.
Baker Hughes provides reservoir consulting, drilling, formation evaluation, completion and production products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry.
