Armstrong Acquires Howard Anderson

03.02.2004

Armstrong Pumps Limited has acquired the business assets of Howard Anderson Ltd (and the trading names Holden Brooke Pullen, Baric and RMI), thereby becoming the UK market leader in the supply of fluid handling technology to the building services market.

The new company is called Armstrong Holden Brooke Pullen Limited.

The acquisition includes the Holden Brooke Pullen and Baric facilities in Manchester and Redhill and the RMI facility in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Both facilities are in the UK and employ over 200 staff.

Armstrong is a leading international provider of a range of fluid handling products for the building services market. The collective knowledge, expertise and experience of the two companies combine to create an industry leading global offering.

Holden Brooke Pullen has over 200 years combined experience of designing, manufacturing, supplying and servicing pumps and associated equipment. The company has supplied the building services sector, water & waste industries as well as high pressure pumping requirements across many industries.

Parent company (S.A. Armstrong Limited) President Charles A. Armstrong comments: "I am delighted to announce this strategic acquisition for Armstrong Pumps Limited. The UK facilities will provide centres of expertise for the 50Hz and DIN standard global markets from which we will aggressively grow this business."

The acquisition means an expanded product range is available including:

  • Circulators
  • Pumps
  • Expansion Systems
  • Balancing Valves
  • Heat exchangers
  • HVAC packages
  • Suction guides
  • Triple duty valves
  • Booster systems
  • Variable speed technology
  • Control systems
  • Fire pump sets

Much of the product range is complementary, as are territories. Armstrong adds a global dimension while Holden Brooke Pullen's traditional strengths have been in the UK.

Armstrong also brings increased investment and expertise in value added solutions and services, including knowledge management and supply chain systems. Investment by Armstrong in its industry leading e-business platform will continue - and an integrated IT system will be rolled out across the new company.

Armstrong Pumps Limited has been operating at two UK sites (Colchester and Morecambe) since the 1960's. The Armstrong and Holden Brooke Pullen websites are linked and contain up-to-the minute information on the new business, wider product range, and fluid handling solutions. Customer services, field support and sales teams in the UK are being unified.

Charles A. Armstrong continues: "Armstrong's vision is to become the world leader in 50Hz and 60Hz fluid dynamics for the building services industry."

Jane Dawson, Managing Director, Holden Brooke Pullen, adds: "Production across the business continues, and together with Armstrong we will grow this business globally. These are exciting times, giving customers access to more products and global expertise, and presenting new opportunities for our business partners."
