Allweiler Centrifugal Pumps Used for Heat Carrier Systems

The ALLHEAT series is an innovative line of pumps for moving heattransfer liquids. The European center for renewable energy in Güssing uses fifteen of these pumps. The pumps move district warm and hot water at temperatures of up to 150 °C in a biomass power plant and in the two long-distance heating stations for generating heat.

Previously used pumps from other manufacturers had very serious problems with their shaft seals. Mechanical seals and stuffing box packings wore out after only a few weeks and had to be continuously replaced. But now, thanks to the innovative construction of the Allweiler ALLHEAT pumps, the mechanical seals are subject to only very low thermal loads, which reduces service and downtime to a minimum.

In addition to these pumps, the biomass power plant in Güssing uses Allweiler progressing cavity pumps to move sludge created during fluegas cleaning as well as magnetically coupled centrifugal pumps from the ALLMAG series for pumping contaminated biodiesel. Another power plant is currently in planning stages; it will use a steam turbine to convert wood dust into electricity. Here as well, the engineers have chosen Allweiler pumps.
