AESSEAL® Wins ISO 14001 Environmental Recognition

23.09.2003

AESSEAL®, the Rotherham based designer and manufacturer of mechanical seals, has been helping customers minimise their environmental impact by sealing rotating equipment and preventing leakage of harmful liquids and gases to the atmosphere for over 20 years.

Now AESSEAL has received recognition for its own Environmental Management System by being awarded the ISO 14001 Certificate of Approval from Lloyds Register Quality Assurance.

With environmental issues making headlines around the world on an almost daily basis, there is strong and growing pressure for large international companies to demonstrate their environmental credentials.

The ISO 14001 certification is further evidence of AESSEAL’s commitment to protecting the environment.

Mark Johnson, AESSEAL’s Quality Assurance Manager who was instrumental in gaining certification said “AESSEAL® has always been passionate about protecting the environment and has had an Environmental Management System in place for many years. Independent assessment by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance provides international recognition that AESSEAL® has an effective Environmental Management System that will continually monitor and improve the company's environmental performance”

Furthermore AESSEAL's Environmental Management System is a vital part of its fully integrated "QuEST" management system. This system covers all the important aspects of the company's operations including quality, training and health and safety as well as environmental issues.

The award is certification for AESSEAL’s Global Technology Centre headquarters in Rotherham, UK, which have just seen a further £2 million investment in Phase III of its expansion programme, necessary to meet increasing world-wide demand for its products.

The award will be presented by the Chief Operating Officer of Lloyds (LRQA), Mr. Chris Loughlin, BSc, CEng, MBA, at the official opening of Phase III on the 6th October, where the principal guest will be Lord Coe.

It is expected that the award will help AESSEAL® to continue to increase its market share as Procurement Departments in both the Private and Public Sectors are under increasing pressure to demonstrate their commitment to the environment by purchasing from suppliers that are certified to ISO 14001.
