Development 2003

The inflow of orders was on a par with the previous year after adjustment for the effects of exchange rate movements.

In water and wastewater and in building services, demand was somewhat lower than the previous year, while it increased from the process industry. Net sales amounted to SEK 2,882 million (3,057), which adjusted for the effects of exchange rate movements and is 1 percent lower than the previous year. Operating earnings amounted to SEK 243 million (214).

New marketing and service concepts

In 2003 ABS has developed a new marketing concept where the company has taken yet another step in communicating its application and process knowledge, being a solution provider with the most comprehensive product and service program on the market. The new concept motto is “Hands-on-know-how. The ABS advantage”.

2003 also saw the introduction of a new service programme with complete support services for the organization’s three segments: Water & Wastewater, Industry and Building Services. The new global concept was introduced in line with extensive internal service training, resulting in even more efficient services tailored to every customer’s specific needs.

New products

Among the new products that were introduced during the year the AFP-ME4 can be mentioned – the first pump size of the new AFP-ME series, which is fully launched from February 2004. The AFP-ME series is a development of the well-known AFP pump, which for many years has been ABS’ core product for sewage and wastewater applications. The new AFP-ME series offers improved blockage-free features along with the highest motor efficiency in the submersible industry. For the industry segment there has been a successful launch of the delivery service FAST for process pumps. There have been a number of launches of new pump models also within the building services segment.
