2016 AHR Expo Education Program to Include Free Seminars, New Product Spotlights, ASHRAE Learning Institute Courses, Certification Exams and More

The 2016 Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo), to be held January 25 to 27 in Orlando, will offer a myriad of educational opportunities to further enhance the value of Show attendance.

Across the three-day Expo, the 2016 education schedule will include a mix of exhibitor new product and technology presentations, ASHRAE Learning Institute courses, certification exams, PM Live seminars and many free programs offered by endorsing associations and other groups. Each free session will last one or two hours, allowing attendees the opportunity to learn in a classroom setting while giving them plenty of time for visiting exhibits as well. Those who are more pressed for time will benefit from the shorter, 20-minute product and technology presentations.

More than 50 free sessions will be offered, covering a range of topics from how to commission an economizer, to cyber security measures for intelligent buildings, to the latest advancements in China’s indoor air quality (IAQ) market. Attendees may participate in all AHR Expo-sponsored sessions, ASHRAE’s Design Build Track and sessions by endorsing associations and industry groups at no additional cost.

“In addition to walking the Show floor and interacting with other industry professionals, the educational program provides another forum for attendees to learn about the HVACR industry at the Show,” said Clay Stevens, president of International Exposition Company. “Our 2016 education program provides added value for Show attendees by addressing the latest industry trends, and providing in-depth insight into products, systems, technologies and even related services about which attendees may not have previously known. People will learn about new features and innovations in products and technology in addition to best practices and industry standards. We plan such a varied schedule with the hope that every attendee will be drawn to at least one session, and leave having learned something new.”

In addition to the breadth of HVACR industry topics addressed by 2016’s free sessions, several paid programs are anticipated to be of notable value to attendees. Onsite review workshops and testing are available and include AABC Commissioning Group’s (ACG) Certified Commissioning Authorities (CxA) exam and North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification. Additionally, PMLIVE will be presenting two half-day seminars from renowned industry experts John Siegenthaler and Dan Holohan, covering the latest design concepts of hydronic heat pump systems and a lecture on “What Hydronics Taught Holohan”.

For Florida locals, combating the region’s notorious heat and humidity is a priority even in January when the climate is less intense. Regional businesses and facilities rely on dependable cooling systems to keep operations running during the most brutal heat waves. Some programs, such as “No Sweat Cooling in a High Humidity Environment Using Chilled Beams and Radiant Surfaces,” will be of particular interest to contractors and engineers from the southeast region. The audience of this seminar, presented by the Radiant Professionals Alliance (RPA), will receive details on best practices, installation techniques and control strategies for utilizing radiant cooling while staying away from dew point on radiant surfaces.
