Yatin Tayalia Appointed Managing Director of Xylem India

Xylem announced the appointment of Yatin Tayalia as Managing Director of Xylem in India. Current Managing Director Nitin Bhate will be taking on a new role as the Global Director and General Manager of Xylem Custom Pumps.

Tayalia will report to Franz Cerwinka, President, Emerging Markets, and will be based in Bangalore, India.

“Yatin brings extensive experience in water management and advanced technologies in water, aligned with our continuing development and growth in India,” said Franz Cerwinka. “He is recognized as a thought leader in both the sector and region for water management, water reuse and driving advanced technologies in water and wastewater treatment. A veteran of the industry, he brings a deep passion for water technology having co-authored more than 10 patents and published multiple technical and policy journal articles. We’re thrilled to welcome him to our leadership team.”

Prior to this appointment, Yatin Tayalia served as Senior Vice-President and Business Leader for South Asia at SUEZ Water Technologies and Solutions. He has over 25 years of experience in water, chemicals and computational analysis industries across Asia, with diversified leadership experience in business, sales, commercial, product and technology management. Tayalia has an integrated Bachelors and Masters of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.

In northeast Oregon in the U.S., the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) is managing a project to replenish freshwater mussels, a “First Food” of the tribes. The project involves growing thousands of juvenile mussels in a laboratory, but providing them with the right levels of nutrients and water was a challenge. Now with Xylem’s Flojet pumping solution, 95% of the mussels survive to six weeks, compared to 30% before.

The Kariba Dam holds back the world’s largest artificial reservoir and generates power for millions of people in Zambia and Zimbabwe. A recent study of the dam showed how it affects the release of greenhouse gas emissions in the reservoir and downstream.
