Abandonment of pumps
Pumps are work machines that are used to transport fluids.
In the narrower sense, in contrast to blowers and compressors, one speaks for gases and compressible media, in the case of pumps for incompressible media one speaks of liquid pumps. This means that the volume of the fluid remains almost constant as the pressure increases. In practice, this also includes liquid mixtures with a low solid or gas content.
When transporting liquids, the pressure of the pump is required to overcome the flow resistance that occurs in the pipe system, for example when circulating water in a heating system.
In addition, in cases of different liquid levels, the height difference (Hgeo) has to be overcome, for example when pumping to increase the level or when filling containers.
