Lowest energy consumption in the market

The Danish Design Centre describes Magna3 as the circulator pump which has the lowest energy consumption in the market in relation to its size. According to the jury, the pump offers a very concrete contribution to reducing the energy consumption in circulator pumps which can otherwise be major energy guzzlers.

”The Magna3 pump series has been designed to obtain efficiency and output figures, which are so far unseen and which are constantly adapted according to need. In addition, focus is on user-friendliness in connection with installation, setting and monitoring, which is supported by interaction between the pump and, for example, smartphones. Magna3 helps to consolidate Grundfos as a company that translates their focus on innovation, sustainability and design into action”, the jury explains.

Confirmation of the success

Group Executive Vice President Peter Røpke is pleased that the comments from the jury harmonize with Grundfos’ own reasons for developing Magna3. "We wanted to set the standard on the market and to raise the design to a higher level. It’s nice that others acknowledge that we have succeeded in this", he says, and sends the acknowledgement on to the employees. "I know that a lot of employees have worked hard with this development project, and I would like to send a big thanks to all of them."

According to Peter Røpke, the award has an effect both internally and externally. "Internally the recognition works as a powerful motivation to continue on the road we have set for the future. And externally the award backs up the story about the values and visions on which Grundfos builds its activities."

The design team behind the award-winning design is Senior Designer Morten Sofussen as the main designer, and Program Manager Steen Tøffner-Clausen, Product Manager Uffe Stæhr and Discovery and Design Manager Sara Schøler Lass as design approvers.

The Danish Design Centre develops and communicates knowledge about design and aims to promote the use of strategic design in Danish companies and public institutions.
