Pentair to Install Water Filtration Systems

18.09.2008

Pentair, Inc. announced that the company will no longer provide bottled water at its major facilities by Sept. 1, 2009, and instead will provide premium water filtered by the company s Everpure systems for employees.

The plan is being implemented in approximately 50 Pentair facilities worldwide. Some facilities, including Pentair s Minneapolis headquarters, already have made the switch to Everpure-filtered tap water.

"Pentair s Everpure filtration systems produce high-quality, great-tasting water. Eliminating bottled water provides significant economic and environmental benefits, including a significant reduction in waste," said Randall J. Hogan, president and chief executive officer. "As a leader in the water-treatment industry, this transition is logical for our company and our employees."

Pentair s conversion plan will eliminate all company-provided bottles at its largest facilities: to put the potential savings into perspective, tap water costs are slightly more than $2 per 1,000 gallons, according to the EPA. If a quarter-gallon bottle of water costs $1, that s $4,000 for 1,000 gallons of bottled water.
