Stainless Steel Well Casings, Screens & Rising Main

22.06.2006

The organisation that is now Mencarelli System s.r.l. was set up in Italy in 1928 and has grown from an innovative drilling company into a specialist supplier of well casings, screens and rising main through the development of new products found necessary by experience in the field.

Casings are produced in 304 stainless or galvanised mild steel with black bituminous coating in nominal sizes of 200 – 500mm diameter and with either plain collared ends or male / female threads. Special, fully waterproof, couplings can also be supplied – these utilise two O-rings which completely prevent leakage.

Well screens are made in stainless steel and are either slotted type or continuous wedge-wire spiral type of 90 – 610mm outside diameter. The wedge wire is automatically welded to each support bar to produce a strong and consistent structure able to resist any collapsing forces in the well while enabling maximum water passage. These screens can be used with mild steel, stainless steel or HDPE casings.

As well as well casings & screens, many drillers now us stainless steel for rising main in place of traditional mild steel because of its superior, effectively infinite service life. A variety of ‘ZSM’ rising mains are available and Mencarelli’s version incorporates three O-rings in each coupling in addition to the securing spiral.
