Flowserve Pledges Funds for Hurricane Relief
Flowserve Corp. announced that on behalf of its 14,000 employees around the world it will donate up to $150,000 to the American Red Cross' Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Flowserve selected the American Red Cross because of the immediate positive impact the organization can have on the victims and because of their advanced distribution system.
"This is a terrible tragedy for the Gulf Coast region and for the United States," said Lewis M. Kling, Flowserve's president and chief executive officer. "While we have many employees, customers and friends of Flowserve who live in this area, these funds will be used to support those in need of immediate help. Flowserve employees continue to express their concern and have proven to be very supportive of these types of fund raising efforts. As a responsible corporate citizen, we are committed to helping the people in the affected areas."
Flowserve made an initial donation of $50,000 to the American Red Cross and is currently conducting a fundraising drive that will match dollar-for-dollar the first $50,000 donated by its employees.
