These pumps are designed for delivering potable water for the city of Taipei from a reservoir. These are the largest units of this pump type built ever worldwide. The pumps have a rated flow of 3600 m³/h and a delivery head of 130 m. The motors have a rated output of 1.720 kW with a power supply voltage of 3300 Volts and a frequency of 60 Hz. The total weight of the operational unit is about 18 tons each.

A bottom intake pump is a centrifugal pump, single- or multi-stage, driven by a water-filled submersible motor, featuring the same standard components used in Pleuger’s renowned submersible pumps with similar high efficiencies. Contrary to the standard submersible pump unit design, the inlet is placed at the lowest point of the unit. The motor is fitted on top of the pump inside a shroud, so that the water is pumped through the ring space between the stator tube and shroud providing excellent cooling condition for the motor. All bearings are water-lubricated, making units maintenance free and protecting the environment from contamination by oil and grease. These units are also safe against flooding and are very reliable under severe service conditions. Pleuger® bottom intake pumps are directly mounted to the riser pipes and do not require any additional base plate or pump house.

Pleuger® bottom intake pumps can be used for typical installation like drawing water from basins, lakes, rivers and wells with horizontal filters with fluctuating water levels. Contrary to normal designed pumps, these units are operable down to minimum water levels and minimum suction pressures.

F.W. Pleuger invented the submersible motor in 1929, which were then combined with slim centrifugal pumps during the construction of the Berlin underground network to lower the water level during the construction. After this breakthrough, the submersible pumps were utilized in dewatering, water supply and potable water distribution. Pleuger® submersible pumps are continuously improved utilizing latest technologies.

Flowserve Hamburg GmbH is one of the leading manufacturers of submersible pumps and motors, plunger and centrifugal pumps. Flowserve Hamburg GmbH is a subsidiary of Flowserve Corporation, a world leader in pumps and flow systems with manufacturing facilities all over the world.

Multi-Purpose Actuator Enables Ball Valve to Open and Close Automatically

02.05.2024 -

A major southern grow operation needed a valve to open and close automatically on a series of remote fertigation pipelines. The lines were in a location where compressed air and electricity were both unavailable and impractical. It was essential to have the valve close whenever the water supply dropped below operational pressure, to prevent the percentage of nutrients from exceeding safe levels and harming the crop.

Clean Alternative Fuel Liquid Ammonia Requires Fail-Safe and Hermetically Tight Pumps in the Shipping Industry

02.05.2024 -

Ammonia is currently at focus as clean alternative to heavy fuel oil that has predominantly been used. The technology employed in order to use liquid ammonia as a fuel must be hermetically tight and guarantee maximum operational safety as the gas is toxic and harmful to the environment. LEWA’s high-pressure diaphragm pumps meet these requirements. Their standard safety mechanisms make them suitable for hazardous, toxic and environmentally harmful fluids such as NH3, even under extreme operating conditions.
