Verderflex Hoses Prove Reliability
Peristaltic pumps, or Hose Pumps as they sometimes called, are now widely accepted as a truly problem solving pump. Peristaltic pumps can run dry for long periods and are self-priming with a suction lift of 9.5 metre water column.
Their seal-less and valve-less design is so robust that the pumps can handle fluids with up to 80% solid content which makes VerderFlex peristaltic pumps suitable for applications, where conventional pump designs fail.
Back in 1995 a Dutch Chemical Manufacturer installed two VerderFlex VF32 pumps to dose activated Carbon slurry as part of an exhaust gas Dioxin removal system at their waste incineration plant. Typically, the slurry contains 15-20% activated Carbon solids. Despite pumping highly abrasive fluids, even after 4000h of continuous operation no significant degradation of the hose is noticed.
As the pump is used in a critical part of the incineration plant, the operator decided to change the hose as part of their preventative maintenance, rather than risking an unscheduled shutdown of the plant.
