Flowserve Honors Congressman Forbes on Behalf of NAM
Congressman Randy Forbes was recently awarded the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence in recognition of his consistent support of American manufacturers and their employees.
The award was presented by NAM member C. Scott Greer, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Flowserve Corp. at its Chesapeake, Va. operation on Oct. 14, 2004.
The award is given by the NAM -- one of the nation's largest and most influential business groups -- to senators and representatives based on their voting records on key legislation affecting the manufacturing community. Its recipients have shown support for a pro-growth, pro-manufacturing, and pro-worker agenda. Members of Congress are notified throughout the congressional session of votes that will be considered as "NAM Key Votes" used to determine eligibility for the award.
"Congressman Forbes' voting record shows a true understanding of manufacturing's key role in the strength of our economy and a willingness to cast the critical votes that will boost competitiveness, job creation and prosperity for working Americans," said Greer, noting that Forbes voted in support of manufacturers on 95 percent of the NAM-determined key votes.
"On behalf of Flowserve and our 13,000 employees, I thank Congressman Forbes for championing the causes that will help U.S. manufacturers thrive," Greer concluded.
Key manufacturing votes for the 108th Congress include legal reform, tax cuts and health care costs, among others.
