Grundfos Honoured with International Design Award
On March 18 in Hannover, Germany, the pump manufacturing Grundfos Group was awarded one of the world's most prestigious design awards - iF Design Silver Award 2004 - for its sustainable water supply system SQFlex.
In the category "industrial design" the competition was stiff with 430 other products in the running.
Grundfos was given the award first and foremost for its exemplary design quality, but the committee of judges also emphasised environmental friendliness, choice of materials, innovation and functionality.
Equipped with solar panel and windmill, Grundfos SQFlex is operated by sustainable energy and is thus applicable in areas without power supply. Advanced electronics enable the pump to shift between the various energy sources and operate optimally irrespective of the conditions under which it is installed.
Although Grundfos SQFlex contains high-tech solutions, it is extremely easy to install, use and maintain. This is very important if it is to prove useful in remote and difficultly accessible areas - maybe a several days' journey away from professional help.
Grundfos has also been awarded the Danish Design Award (Den Danske Designpris) and the Confederation of Danish Industries' Product Award (Dansk Industris Produktpris) for SQFlex.
