Crane Co. Appoints New VP Operational Excellence

Crane Co. announced the appointment of Max H. Mitchell, vice president-operational excellence, completing the Company's search following the promotion of its former head of operational excellence. Mr. Mitchell joins Crane Co. as a key executive and officer of the corporation.

Mr. Mitchell has extensive operations management experience with 14 years of world-class manufacturing leadership at Pentair, Danaher Corporation, and the Ford Motor Company.

Mr. Mitchell was most recently with Pentair Tools Group, from 2001 to present, where he was senior vice president of global operations. In this position Mr. Mitchell had complete cost responsibility for approximately $750 million, including manufacturing, distribution, supply-chain and customer service.

Throughout his career, Mr. Mitchell has been responsible for operational excellence by driving lean process improvement tools and six-sigma variance reduction methodology throughout all functional business areas and systems.

Prior to Pentair, Mr. Mitchell held positions of increased responsibility in operations management and finance with the Danaher Corporation for 5 years and, prior to that, with the Ford Motor Company for 7 years.
