Biggest Electric Submersible Pump in the UK Hire Market
Flygt has entered into an agreement with Engenica, term contractor for Thames Water, which has allowed it to have ...
the biggest electric submersible pump, complete with control panel, available in the hire market to date.
Engenica approached Flygt to help overpump Blakes Lock pump station in Reading while major M&E and civil works took place. Products required had to cope with pressures and flows of 500l/s at 33 metres head to assist the storm pumps during high flows. The system had to be reliable and guaranteed to minimise the risk of flooding because the pump station is situated next to the Reading Oracle Shopping Centre.
Flygt systems engineering and hire departments collectively produced a pump selection to work alongside the existing storm pumps. The pump would overcome the head pressures and still pass forward the required rate. The pump, a CS 3312 180Kw 630 impeller, was not currently available on the hire fleet so Flygt negotiated with Engenica and reached an agreement for a 26 week hire which also included two CS 3300 LT pumps and a CS 3201 MT pump. The terms of the agreement meant a control panel could be specially built for the CS 3312 and 300mm steel wired armoured pipes purchased to make up the complete package from ITT Flygt.
