Water & Wastewater Europe 2004
PennWell Corporation proudly presents WATER & WASTEWATER EUROPE 2004, a major conference and exhibition totally dedicated to European water issues. Following the success of the inaugural Water & Wastewater Europe 2003, held in Nice, France, last March, this event marks the second of a high-level series of conferences that will be held annually within Europe.
Water & Wastewater Europe 2004 will host experts from major players in the industry, including the public and private sectors, to discuss the serious challenges faced by many European countries -- asset management; water resource management; water production and quality; desalination, water reclamation; operations and maintenance; privatisation, system rehabilitation; wastewater treatment and sludge management.
But as one of Europe's most arid countries, Spain faces increasingly difficult challenges in supplying clean water for domestic consumption, irrigation and industry. The Spanish government and various industries are developing alternative sources of water from desalination, wastewater reclamation and ї- with much controversy -- redirecting huge amounts of water from the Ebro River in the north to water-scarce coastal regions in the south and southeast. Similarly, Southern European nations must also cope with scarce water resources and are searching for water supply alternatives.
Representatives from the European Commission, financial institutions, national and municipal governments, international organisations and leading water companies will share their insights on strategic policy and technical issues that should help major players in the region handle these water and wastewater challenges.
