Grundfos Comfort Series Instant Hot Water System Secures ANSI/NSF And IAPMO Safety Approvals

The ANSI / NSF Standard 61 establishes guidelines for determining whether contaminants or other impurities are imparted indirectly into drinking water from the product being tested.

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials is the organization that maintains the influential Universal Plumbing Code (UPC) and Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), both of which are widely used by plumbers to assess the safety of emerging HVAC engineering practices.

Grundfos, a long-time leading provider of circulator pumps for closed-loop HWR systems installed in homes during construction, introduced the Comfort Series Instant Hot Water System in 2002 and it has since become the fastest growing product ever launched by Grundfos North America's HVAC division.

This retrofit system is installed with a single pump at the water heater and a valve at each branch of the plumbing out to the fixtures. It provides the same water savings and comfort as a closed loop system and has a more straightforward installation than any competing under-the-sink system.

The system is shipped standard with a Grundfos UP15 circulator with a timer and power cord, a Grundfos Comfort Series thermal by-pass valve, mounting screws and instructions. The timer is used to set the pump to operate during peak water-usage times in the morning and evening and acts to moderate the modest energy draw of the pump, which is equivalent to a 25-watt lightbulb.
