07.01.2003

Dover Corporation (NYSE: DOV) today announced that Mr. Joseph W. Schmidt has been named the Company's Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, effective January 1, 2002. Mr. Schmidt succeeds Mr. Robert G. Kuhbach, who was named the Company's Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer in November 2002.

Mr. Thomas L. Reece, Dover Corporation's Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Joe has worked with Dover and various of its businesses for nearly ten years and has come to know and appreciate Dover's highly decentralized operating culture. Most recently, Mr. Schmidt was a Senior Partner at Coudert Brothers, a major international law firm based in New York, where he was co-head of the Finance/Real Estate Group, specializing in complex corporate and international finance transactions. Mr. Schmidt spent most of his career in New York City at Breed, Abbott & Morgan (later Whitman Breed Abbott), starting in 1976 as an Associate, and later becoming Partner. Mr. Schmidt has a BA from Bellarmine University and received his law degree from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
