Thompson’s Vacuum Wellpoint Pumps A versatile pump designed for many different applications

09.09.2002

Versatility is an important factor when considering the best equipment for a jobsite or a rental fleet, especially when it comes to pumps. A pump that can handle more than one application can save time and money. One of Thompson Pump’s most versatile units is its portable Vacuum Wellpoint pump (VW), with the vacuum-assisted priming system.

The Thompson VW pumps are available in 6-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch models, and are able to operate unattended for long periods of time. Powered by a diesel engine, with a solids-handling, self-priming centrifugal pump end and an on-board vacuum pump capable of 229 cfm, the pump has the air handling necessary for a large wellpoint system and responsive priming times.

The combination of a self-priming centrifugal trash pump with solids handling capability, with an on-board vacuum pump that can handle large amount of air, gives this unit the added benefit of quick priming times. In addition, it allows this pump to handle applications with a large volume of solids such as sewage bypasses, flood control, air evacuation-type applications and wellpoint and sock applications.

The unit is equipped with an air separation chamber that is mounted directly on the suction port, which allows the air in the suction system to be separated from the pumping fluid. Another benefit is its oil reclaiming system, which provides re-circulated oil to lubricate and cool the vacuum pump. The pump package is mounted on an integral fuel frame road trailer, which provides both extended operating times and highway portability.

The vacuum pump is driven by a V-belt, which is easily field replaceable and can be purchased from a local auto parts supply store or belt supplier. Plus, belt failure does not make the pump inoperable.

Chlorine Gas Systems: New Electric Safety Valve Makes the System Safer

13.12.2024 -

Chlorine gas plays a key role in the disinfection of drinking and industrial water. However, handling the chemical can pose considerable health risks – from irritation of the eyes to fatal pulmonary oedema. To further improve occupational safety during use, Lutz-Jesco has developed the VakuStop – a vacuum regulator for dosing systems that is equipped with an emergency stop function to prevent uncontrolled chlorine gas leaks directly at the chlorine gas tank in the event of an emergency.
