New Z-Frame Series Centrifugal Pumps Announced by Berkeley

23.07.2002

A new line of centrifugal pump frames is now available from Berkeley Pumps in several configurations and sizes. The Z-Frame product series includes both SAE engine-drive and frame-mounted models, suitable for a wide variety ofapplications. The smaller BZR closed-coupled pumps are a perfect match for a wide variety of hydraulic-motor-driven applications. Both segments of the line are designed and engineered for years of reliable performance.

The larger BZ-SAE and frame-mounted pumps feature state-of-the-art design that delivers in excess of 20,000 hours of bearing life, one of the industry’s longest life cycles. An interchangeable housing allows seals to be easily changed in the field from packing to mechanical or mechanical to packing for increased versatility and ease of maintenance. Large cast-in feet provide rugged and stable support for the pump end. The volute can be rotated for increased application flexibility. A large opening to the packing area allows easy access on either side for improved serviceability.

A rigidly-supported thrust bearing handles extreme loads, even in the most demanding conditions. The hefty 1-1/4-inch keyed-impeller shaft delivers outstanding durability. Other end-user features and benefits include large grease reservoirs that extend bearing life and reduce maintenance. A two-piece packing gland comes apart easily for faster maintenance.

A choice of cast-iron or silicone-bronze impellers increases application versatility. Rotatable seal housings allow more flexibility for flush lines. A wide variety of seal options are matched to your application needs. Pre-drilled SAE #4 or #5 mounting holes allow for engine-choice flexibility. Some features are matched to the specific type of BZ Series pumps. The frame-mounted pumps are available in a choice of clockwise or counterclockwise rotation to match your application requirements. A fully-enclosed SAE bell housing improves safety when installing or performing maintenance. Standard on SAE pumps, the severe-duty elastomeric coupling extends the life of the pump and is capable of handling a wide horsepower range. A rugged spline shaft on the SAE pumps delivers excellent durability. The 1-1/2-inch by 10T spline conforms to industry standard.

For the specific needs of hydraulic-driven applications, the smaller, more compact BZR pumps are a perfect fit. Rigid mounting feet provide excellent stability and flexible mounting. The one-piece splined shaft assures dependable operation with an integrated coupling. Greased-for-life, sealed bearings handle the toughest conditions. The interchangeable design allows for easy replacement of an existing pump without costly plumbing change-out. BZR pumps are available in clockwise and counterclockwise rotation for application flexibility. Mounting feet do not interfere with volute rotation, and acceptance of two or four-bolt motors speeds installation.

The BZ-SAE and frame-mounted pumps and the BZR close-coupled hydraulic motor driven pumps are outstanding choices for applications that require durable construction and reliable performance.
