Pumps & Valves 2002: A broader view of the pumps & valves market
Pumps & Valves 2002 will focus to industrial pumps, control valves, shut-off valves, services and accessories. The range of services offered is extended by placing additional emphasis on maintenance, technical training and standardisation.
The organisation of Pumps & Valves 2002 is already well under way. For this 9th edition it was decided to change the subtitle “Trade fair for the processing industry” to “Trade fair for industrial pumps, control valves, shut-off valves, services and accessories”. This means that the range of services offered is extended by placing additional emphasis on maintenance, technical training and standardisation.
During the last edition of Pumps & Valves 2000 the fair numbered 155 exhibitors, who together represented 527 brands from 25 countries. Closer examination gives the following subdivision per category: 48% of exhibitors came under pumps, 40% under shut-off valves, 39% under control valves, 32% under accessories and 19% under services. 5,103 visitors were registered for this offer, of whom 84.7% were from Belgium and 15.3% from abroad.
To be certain that each edition of Pumps & Valves again meets the needs of the sector, the content of the fair is determined by an advisory body consisting of organiser Fairtec nv together with distributors, users and employers’ organisations. This year these are, in alphabetical order: Agoria, Belgium Ventiel, Europump/CEIR, Fimop, Johnson Pump, Pompengroep, Spirax-Sarco and Tyco Valves & Controls.
The advisory body decided to change the subtitle of Pumps & Valves “Trade fair for the processing industry” to “Trade fair for industrial pumps, control valves, shut-off valves, services and accessories”. This means that products and applications in large administrative buildings, hospitals, hotels, public swimming baths, greenhouses, water tanks, silos, storage tanks and tankers, etc. will also be actively promoted, without violating the existing philosophy of this highly specialised trade fair.
“Services” refers to maintenance, quality control, standardisation & certification, software & training. Due to increasing cost and quality requirements, considerable attention will be paid to these topics. For maintenance, both companies that provide maintenance for pumps, valves and shut-off valves on an independent basis as well as distributors that provide maintenance as customer service and do not have a separate business unit for this can present their services at the fair.
For training, commercial and non-commercial centres are invited to present their range of training courses at Pumps & Valves. On the other hand, Fairtec also wants to involve suppliers who are developing activities in this area in the initiative.
Finally the standards, directives and legislation currently in force in Europe that have an impact on innovation, trade, safety, competitiveness and consumer protection will be explained by employers’ organisations.
