Selwood Beats Opposition to the A11

05.11.2001

Despite a competitor based opposite the site for the new dual carriageway on the A11, it was the Great Yarmouth branch of pump and hire sales company Selwood that won the contract for pumps.

May Gurney is the main contractor for the Highways Agency on the Roundham Heath to Attleborough road improvements on the A11 which takes in Snetterton. The work stretches approximately six miles and includes the building of dual carriageways, bridges and underpasses. Work started in February of this year and is expected to last for two years.

Selwood currently has 4 x 6" pumps and 1 x 4" pump on site pumping the ground water as the site is being cleared. The contract is still in the early stages and the pump requirement is expected to increase as the work progresses.

Selwood was certainly pleased to win the contract as local manager, Paul Cashman explained, "We were not the cheapest or nearest to the job. I believe we won the contract through personal relationships built up over the years and the confidence customers have in our products."
