Registration Begins for Hydraulic Institute 2001 Fall Management Conference
PARSIPPANY, NJ, August 13, 2001 - The Hydraulic Institute (HI) announces registration for its 2001 Fall Management Conference, entitled "Leadership and Communications - The Critical Link", to be held October 24 to 27 at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C.
In addition to current HI members and associate members, registration is now open to all manufacturers of pumps or pumping systems in the U.S., Canada or Mexico, as well as to suppliers who meet HI membership requirements. * Prospective members may attend an HI program once to experience the benefits of HI membership as they are considering joining the Institute. Invitations to prospective members for this meeting are also being extended by current HI members as part of the new HI "Member-Get-A-Member" campaign.
"As a gathering of the North American pump industry's leadership, this conference serves as a forum for management, both manufacturers and suppliers, to explore new ideas, discuss major issues and trends, and share business experiences. The meetings also offer networking opportunities not available elsewhere," said Robert Asdal, executive director of HI.
The conference highlights include a CEO breakfast and roundtable with presentations by James Russell Phillips, president and CEO of Shurflo Pump Manufacturing, John Allen, president and COO of Wilden Pump & Engineering, and by noted journalist Steve Adubato, PhD, on the subject of "Crisis Communications."
The exclusive, by-invitation only, CEO Roundtable program is one of the most popular components of the Institute's meetings with between 40-50 chief executive officers participating. Members will also be addressing establishment of a new Small Business Network, as a new member service, at the Pinehurst meeting.
Several noted speakers will address the general session on management topics of interest to pump manufacturers and suppliers. Among the presentations are conditioning the "Corporate Athlete" by Don Baker of LGE Performance Systems; "Leadership Communications" by Steve Adubato, PhD; "Don't Die Wondering" by motivational speaker Randy Kunkel; "The Economy and the Pump Market: Looking Forward" by Michael Bradley, PhD, a professor of economics and international affairs at George Washington University, Washington, D.C.; and "Collaboration: Flexible Computer-Integrated Manufacturing" by Dr. Bruce Merrifield, former Undersecretary of Economic Affairs and former Assistant Secretary of the Department of Commerce for Technology under the Reagan Administration.
The 83-year old Hydraulic Institute, the largest association of pump producers in North America, serves member companies and pump users by providing product standards and forums for the exchange of industry information. * Editor's Note: In order to qualify for membership in the Hydraulic Institute, the candidate must currently manufacture pumps in the United States, Canada or Mexico, or be a supplier to the pump industry of any one of the following:
- bearings
- component parts (e.g. foundries)
- couplings
- gauges, control, instruments
- drivers: motors/engines
- seals and sealing systems
- software (pump specific)
