Klaus Endress, President of the Supervisory Board of the Endress+Hauser Group, has been awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit. This recognizes in particular his commitment to family companies as well as to democracy and market economies.
The Federal Cross of Merit is conferred by the German Federal President. It was given in person to Klaus Endress last Friday, 10 November 2017, by the Finance Minister of Baden-Württemberg, Edith Sitzmann. At the same time the Rector of the University of Freiburg, Germany, Professor Hans-Jochen Schiewer, conferred on the Swiss entrepreneur the title of Honorary Senator of the University.
Both distinctions were awarded on the day of the handover at the regional employers’ association WVIB. Klaus Endress (68) had for nine years acted as chairman of this network of companies known as ‘Schwarzwald AG’ (‘Black Forest Corp’). His successor in this honorary position is the German entrepreneur Thomas Burger.
