Birmingham’s Millennium Experience

Pullen Pumps, a Howard Anderson Ltd company, has provided a range of pumping equipment for Millennium Point a major UK Millennium funded project. Opening in September 2001 this landmark building in Birmingham is one of the most prestigious projects of the year and will cost some £114 million.

Pullen were commissioned by Haden Young Ltd to supply a range of C-range TB drive Belt Drive Pumps and Pulpress 2000 Pressurisation Units to circulate and control pressure of the heating and chilled water systems for the entire 12-acre complex. Pullen also supplied their MFX Canned Rotor circulators to supply secondary hot water for this design and build project.

The Millennium Point is a major boost for Birmingham. Based near the centre of the city this complex will focus on the understanding and application of technology. There will be a state of the art museum known as the ‘Discovery Centre’, along with a ‘Technology Innovation Centre’, run in conjunction with the University of Central England, as a centre of technology research. There is also the ‘University of the First Age’ offering learning experiences for young people, an Imax cinema, restaurants, bars, shops and offices.
