In 2006, KSB Aktiengesellschaft (Germany) manufactured more than 60,000 pumps of the Eta family range, making this type of standard industrial pump the most successful in Europe.
Many other manufacturers have used the Eta design as a model for their own products. Since the fourth Eta generation was launched in 1981, more than 1.2 million pumps with the well-established name have been produced in Frankenthal.
To maintain the product’s attractiveness to potential customers, in 2007 KSB will again invest millions of euros in a highly flexible production facility. The paint shop meets the requirements of the latest environmental protection regulations. Each month, around 160 employees produce approximately 5,000 pump units in various designs.
Originally designed to comply with EN 733 requirements for water pumps only, these pumps now do service in many other than water applications because of their outstanding robustness and the large choice of materials. The casing materials available are cast iron, nodular cast iron and bronze as well as stainless steel.
The type series’ modular design allows users to choose from several shaft seal variants depending on the conditions of application. These seal variants range from gland packings through single-acting to double-acting mechanical seals featuring a variety of material combinations.
All pump variants are equipped with replaceable casing wear rings making them very easy to service. The continuously optimized hydraulic system ensures high efficiency and hence very low energy consumption. The flow rates achieved are almost 2000 cubic metres per hour and the maximum discharge head is more than 100 metres.
In addition to the classic long-coupled configuration, KSB offers a space-saving close-coupled model. Its compact design and simple installation without major alignment needs make it ideal for areas with limited space. And due to its stub shaft design, all commercially available close-coupled motors can be fitted.
The company expects the year 2007 to bring another increase in Eta pumps production.
