20.09.2005 Spaix Inside: How Do I Insert Reserved Characters into My Formulas? |
Formulas play an important role within Spaix. Formulas are used for calculations, dynamic names and search keys as well as fort the output of values on data sheets. In some cases it is possible to enter an object name, for example in Additional components.
Reserved characters or signs are those used as operators in formulas (e.g. plus, minus or brackets) or those with a special function such as parentheses. If the name of the relevant component contains such a reserved sign Spaix would accidentally interpret it as a symbol and part of the formula and generate a false or no result at all. To work around this problem you encode these special characters: you write down the ASCCII value of the character and place it in between two ‚#’ (pound sign or number sign.). That, however, means that also the pound sign itself has to be encoded. Example: Access to a pump component
Below you will find a table of some commonly used characters and symbols. The method, of course, works for every character and sign.
