Steam leak from a pump at Ibaraki nuclear power plant

December 11, 2001 (Kyodo News) // MITO — A Japan Atomic Power Co plant in the village of Tokaimura in Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo, on Monday experienced a steam leak from a pump supplying cooling water to its reactor and an output decline in the course of repair work on the pump, power company officials said.

The incident will not have any impact on employees or the surrounding environment as radiation from the steam is less than the level observed in the natural environment, the officials said.
