Seneca Falls, New York, USA – Goulds Pumps, an ITT Industries Company, has introduced a major new addition to its PumpSmart Control Solutions product line. Designated Model PS100, this new controller is a microprocessor based, variable speed drive programmed specifically for centrifugal pumps.

The PS 100 Drive is designed not only for single pump systems, but also has on board multi-pump logic for 2 to 4 pump systems. The PS100 provides pump protection by continually monitoring and reacting to both system and pump conditions. It matches pump output to the exact system head required by the process. Dry running and severe off peak operation are reduced or eliminated because the PS100 automatically shuts down the pump before any damage can occur. Pump reliability is maximized while maintenance costs are minimized.

In addition, the PS100 provides considerable cost savings by eliminating the need for starter panels, relays, switches, control valves and recirculation piping. Energy savings, commonly 30-70% are obtained because at lower demand, the PS100 eliminates the extra energy needed to create higher heads than the system needs by reducing the motor speed. The PS100 energy savings alone will often result in a payback of one year or less.
