Pump Performance Curve

Characteristic curves of a centrifugal pump in dependence of the flow Q.

Usually the following curves are shown:

  • Head H(Q)
  • Power P(Q)
    • Shaft power P2(Q)
    • Power input P1(Q)
  • Efficiency
    • Hydraulic efficieny hhydr
    • Total efficieny htot
  • NPSHreq(Q)
  • Speed n(Q)


While the head curve H(Q) is the basic characteristic of the pump, the other curves appear not for all pump constructions.
